Working with State IBRS
States that participate in NIBRS collect data that meets the requirements and definitions set by the FBI. However, state definitions of crimes may not perfectly match federal definitions, and states may also collect data elements above and beyond those required by NIBRS. State incident data allows SACs and analysts to examine data closely matched to local laws and relevant to local social problems. This section of the IBRRC will provide information on State IBR projects, opportunities to collaborate with BJS and other Federal agencies to analyze State IBR data, and best practices for working with unique state IBR data.
Collaborating with BJS
In September 2018, BJS staff announced plans for the Joint Statistical Analysis Program (JSAP) and presented results from a pilot study with the Virginia SAC. The JSAP is a collaboration between BJS and State SACs to undertake projects to analyze state IBR data. Please check back for more information regarding JSAP in the future.

We will update this section of the IBRRC as we receive information. Please check back often.
